Microsoft just introduced a new system format type and is claimed to be more convenient for modern users.
Formatting your usb using ExFAT allocation tends to be better than using FAT, FAT32 or NTFS…
Tommiekiddy.com 5 Steps to Formatting or Reformatting your portable usb flash drive: -
1. Back up all the files on the USB, save it to ur desktop or a document folder.
2. Go to my computer, right click on the usb you want to reformat
3. Select “Format…”
4. Change the File system to “exFAT”
eXFAT formatting & a back up folder sample
5. Click Start to start formatting
6. copy the files you backed up into the new formatted flash drive

BTW The format doesn’t seem to be compatible with all XPs, but will sure work on Vista and some XP machines

For XP users who havent got the Exfat on the computer.. Install this Update for Windows XP: (KB955704)
Install this update to add support for the exFAT file system format. http://support.microsoft.com/kb/955704
