Continue reading »]]> TalkTalk is STILL failing to sort out its billing systems and their continuously known  poor customer support and service, This has cost them the loss of 43 thousands subscribers and i happen to be one of those 43,000.  This as a result affected their revenue from £443m to £421m.
The head Honcho of the company; Dido Harding tried making false claims about the improvement of the company

“We are pleased that we are delivering a better experience for our customers, demonstrated by the continuing reduction in calls into our contact centres and a significant increase in the number of customers’ queries being resolved first time,” she said. “This reflects our priority to improve customer experience and make our end to end systems and processes both more effective and more efficient.”

The last time i checked, TalkTalk is still sh*t, unreliable and irresponsible, and still appears to be one of the worst company in the UK, and No.1 when you’re talking about Line Rental and Home Broadband. Checked this a month ago before i decided to leave them. They left me with nothing, but their networking-dropper of a Fibre Optic Router and a DSL router.

Seriously? This shouldn’t even be news as Talk Talk is known for their ridiculously unreliable service and products. The Talk Talk Team will always tell you “We’re the cheapest” in other words… “We’re the Worst of all”.

Review Websites are kind enough to give Talk Talk a rating of 2 out of 10, which seems a bit generous to me because in reality their rating lies between a -5 and 0. A complete rip of so called “Internet Service Provider” (ISP).

For those looking for a very cheap Internet Service, I know you’re unable to afford the ridiculous prices offered by the majorities of ISPs however You’d be loosing more money by signing up to Talk Talk Service, sincerely you’d be better off using a dongle which guarantees a better connection, reliable service and hassle-free product.

Talking from experience, I signed up with their Broadband service as they bragged to me about how awesome my Internet will be on signing up with them, They also promised me a free connection all over the house, I’m not going to go much into details.  You might as well check the online reviews as well ass offline reviews by asking your mates or colleagues.

You’ll be surprise on how much Talk Talk had to pay back their customers for providing such a shitty service. I’ll back up my essay using 5 random facts;-

1. According to DailyMail “TalkTalk wins our award for worst customer service in 2010“
2. According to The Telegraph “TalkTalk faces £139m fine for bogus bills“
3. Random site “Talk Talk branded worst company in Britain“
4. in February 2011 “TalkTalk pays £2.5 million for billing blunder“
5. July 2011 “TalkTalk again rated worst among landline and broadband providers”

And did you  know that broadband tags your line so you’d have to stick with Talk Talk or pay extra charges whenever you leave them. Talk Talk and Sky does this to their customers, really?

I dare a Talk Talk customer to comment on here if they’ve had a good service from Talk Talk, i bet you won’t find any. what gets on my grind the most is the so called customer service they claim to provide.

On countless occassion they’ve failed to fulfill their promises. Couple of time i was promised a “callback” and guess what? I made the “callback” and few other times their agents’ promised to send me email in confirming our conversation on the phone. I remember speaking to 2 ladies who promised to email me within the next hour and they both failed. And this is due to the fact that they know they’re making empty promises which is why they refused to send me an email to confirm their promises.

I keep this short, as a faithful and loyal hater of Talk Talk. I’ll like to end these post saying “Talk Talk is crap, rubbish, slow and shit”.

Seriously they’re a lot of decent ISP and cheap broadband providers out there, Internet Service Providers such as Virgin (they’re pretty fast and you don’t have to take up their Home line rental), O2 (ok), Orange (don’t take my word for it), PlusNet, Sky, BT, Tesco (i’m kidding, don’t go there as they’re  only good with Groceries and sincerely they should just stick to that, Every little doesn’t help when it comes to Broadband I want more), Be There (they’re alright).

Lets be fair, Pls comment if your Talk Talk experience differ, I doubt it though.

I left the computer for couple of minutes and in return to find out that one of the greatest inventor and entrepreneur in technology has passed away. The co-founder and former CEO of Apple; Steven Paul “Steve” Jobs ate the “Apple of death” (died) yesterday (5th Oct 2011) at the age of 56 due to the cause of long struggle with pancreatic cancer.

They must be the very worst of the lot – was on contract with them for the 1 year. Why do they suck? Here are ten reasons to get you started, and give you a clue:

1. asked specifically to opt out of marketing. Yet I got about 20 postal mailings, three e-mails and numerous txt’s over the 12 month period. Neither complaints nor visits to the local shop changed any of this!

2. Their online billing shows a different billing table as the customer support team has available to them. Hence its impossible to get a straight comparison from them.

3. Their online billing is flakey to say the very least. Thought it was a browser issue, but turned out to be across the board of OS’s and browser. Login sometimes, sometimes not, sometimes error, sometimes not; always a gamble…

4. They have about 5 different departments, all non-interconnected. So if you speak to XXXX Connect, and they tell you to call XXXX Network instead , you need to call again, have yor call routed again, hold again, repaet your details again…. Why Can they not just have one place to sort things out?!?!

5. Opted for online billing (to safe trees…) and never got a single paper bill (just loads of junkmail (see 1.). Yet itemised billing disappears from any bill older than 4 months…whats with that?!

6. Their customer service is one of the worst. Kept in lopps of automated call centres for ages. A friend tells me that they actually have shares in the company that provides their voice call services on the call centre side. So that must be a nice way to keep the revenue up..?!

7. Their shops cannot deal with anything but selling you stuff. And most the time you get not only contradictonary info there, but the prices seem to differ from shop to shop. So shop around, as they say…

8. The whole experience was very confusing and I wil never go back to XXXX, not even if they pay me for it. As acommunication provider, they ought to sort out their own communication first, before trying to provide it to others….

9. On a number of occasions, they lost connectivity in Harrow last year; it was down on one ocassion for over 10 hrs. When calling XXXX they knew nothing and told me I had a damaged SIM. However calling the local mobile shop in Harrow, revealed that the cell was down. Go figure…

10.Was on Direct Debit. Yet they decided to take the money out of my account when they were either bored, not too busy, or in need, as on no occasion was there a regular interval. One months nothing gets taken out of my account. The next nothing either, then 1 payment for three months ago… and so on. If you enjoy ‘suprise DDebit’ have a go at XXXX DD…

Lets see if you can guess this UK network operator…

yes, Its Vodafone! finally managed to close my account with them, after months of pain and stress. If Al-Qaida likes to have a go at their head quaters, I would have no objections. How can a company manage to create so much aggro…?!

like smirf83 pointed out about O2, they just a joke, except they go and black list you if you not on your feet and move things along with them.

Anyone interested in their customer relations number, let me know, and I’ll mail it to you. It was that number that finally got my account closed (crediting me with any outstanding charges etc, either because they wanted to avoid further action by Otelo, or to put me of from taking them to court, over breach of contract).

Been with Vodafone – their customer service was severely lacking (I had problems logging onto the online account – they basically told me that I was doing it all wrong, or that my PC was set wrong. I told them that I knew what i was doing and that my wife could access her account fine using the same PC and same settings. They basically told me, again, that I was doing it all wrong and they could do nothing about it. So, I just had to take their word for it that the value I was billed was correct as I couldn’t check it and as I signed up for the online account they wouldn’t send out itemised billing!)

Continue reading »]]> The new iPad 2 is the latest gadget being talked about around the net. The iPad 2 launch has been confirmed by Apple and is taking place today, 2 of March 2011.

It seems like yesterday when Apple unveiled the first iPad, i remember comparing it to a stone as the first one was almost irelevant.

Apple’s described their new iPad as Thinner, lighter, faster, Facetime, Smart Cover with 10 hour battery.

iPad 2 Features (What to expect):
The iPad 2 will surely be lighter (1.3 pound) than the old one (there was a lot of critism on the original iPad regarding the weight at 1.5 pound) and even thinner too (8.8mm thick).

The new iPad has a rear and front facing cameras for recording video, taking photos, and FaceTime video chat.

It has has a new A5 dual-core processor which offers up to 9 times faster graphics processing. Apple claimed ‘the faster speeds of the new processor will not have any greater power consumption than the previous A4 processor’ which is good to know.

The iPad will come in black and White with the same 10-hour battery life. only if it was longer

A new accessory cable will also offer mirrored HDMI video out to HDTVs for 1080p high-definition output

It has another accessory announced by Apple, which is a magnetic “smart cover,” which covers the front of the device. Covering the front of the device automatically locks the device, while taking it off will unlock it

Release Dates:
on Friday, March 11, in the United States., while 26 more overseas countries will get the device on March 25.

Continue reading »]]> I don’t know about you, but i’ve had the most terrible mobile services from Vodafone UK.

Vodafone is the worst company to be with on a contact, if you’re a PAYG customer then you have nothing to lose. Otherwise Vodafone would rinse every pence in your bank account.
I’ve been with Vodafone for about 2 3 to 4 years now, and it’s been the worst agreement in my life, p.s. I’m on a £12.50 contract which is meant to be a good deal (i was told i’m paying half price) half price? who would pay £24 per month  for a sim only deal with 600mins and unlimited txt? no internet either or any other extras.

Although i agreed on monthly payment of “12.50 with Vodafone, however the 12.50 has inexplicably turned to roughly £40p/m. there’s been times where i’ve got bills of “75, 125 and now a bill of £245. trust me i do not make that many phone calls and i don’t call premium numbers either.

Vodafone’s very good at starting a contract with you and also very good at stealing every possible penny towards the end of your contract. There’s also this extra called “Vodafone Family” where you can have a group of 4 including yourself and make free calls to eachother for £5/pm”

Lately, after realising how Vodafone’s ripped me off, i decided to cancel my account; i called up their customer service to tell them that i’d like to switch to PAYG when my contract endz.. They stated “you must put it in writing if you want to end your contract and this will take 30 days”. I had like 18 days left before my contract finishes, now they want me to put it in writing that i want my contract to end, so whats the point of calling the f*cking customer care? when i signed up for the contract no one asked me to put it in writing before my contract started, now that my account’s coming to end, they’re telling me it won’t end UNLESS i put it in writing and email (a written request?).

I’m not too fussed about putting it in writing inorder to end my contract which is meant to end anyway. Another problem is the fact I called them up to ask for the “last month’s” bill and a sincere lady (customer care) told me it was “£185″ but there’s been an error with the system and that a lot of my calls were billed when they’re not supposed to, she said the bill was too high and incorrect… I got excited and felt contented, then she decided to file a “bill recalculation” claim and told me it normally takes about few days.

I’ve been on their online service which is utterly rubbish, their FAQ is out of date and irrelevant to their customer’s needs. Their online billing system doesn’t respond and is 3 days late when it does respond (A staff member confirmed this), they’ll ask you to send a billing query to “44555″ which is also like 24 hours late, nothing is active at Vodafone.

I decided to use their contact form on their site so as to make it a “written” request, the form didn’t work, the submit button failed and took me to a dead page (called the customer service and they confirmed that the system malfunctioned”. Then lady decided to put a note on my account so i didn’t have to make a “written request”

Then i decided to call back the next day, unfortunately for me, i spoke to some unpleasing man who tried convincing me that there was no error with the system and that i’ve gone over the limit. The unhelpful idiot decided to “file a bill recalculation” and told me it normally takes 7 to 10 days.

The day after, i decided to contact them again as the Vodafone staff never bothered to call me like they’ve promised, i spoke to this man who told me he couldn’t understand what was going on. I told him a file claim’s been made, he said it’ll take 4 to 6 days for it to get sorted. P.S. I get told different things everytime i call their customer service. Then i asked the guy for last month’s bill, and he stated “£248″… I’m pretty sure when i called two days ago (18 days into a new month) i was told “185″.

I’ll probably send them (Vodafone) a copy of this article.

I’m willing to take this further or even take it to court as i’m not paying anything above “£20″, I’ve already got my PAC Code and i’ve cancelled my direct debit so the money doesn’t get taken automatically from my bank account without approval.

So far, i’m waiting for the file reclaim to be done

UPDATE: Vodafone suspended my account, about 2 weeks before my contract ends and now they’re asking for money.

They sent a letter stating they’ll ruin my credit report. Like i said earlier “I’ve cancelled my direct debit” and i’m not willing to pay Vodafone a penny.

My contract is over now, and i’ve happily switched to Giff Gaff where i get free internet usage and free calls.

• Try streaming in any other media player as there may be problems with your media player. Or you can reinstall the player which you are currently using.
• Make sure if your computer is free of viruses as they play in important role in creating snags in your computer.

Continue reading »]]> Mobile phones and computers will soon be able to diagnose sexually transmitted diseases under innovative plans to cut the UK’s rising rate of herpes, chlamydia and gonorrhoea among young people.

Doctors and technology experts are developing small devices, similar to pregnancy testing kits, that will tell someone quickly and privately if they have caught an infection through sexual contact.

People who suspect they have been infected will be able to put urine or saliva on to a computer chip about the size of a USB chip, plug it into their phone or computer and receive a diagnosis within minutes, telling them which, if any, sexually transmitted infection (STI) they have. Seven funders, including the Medical Research Council, have put £4m into developing the technology via a forum called the UK Clinical Research Collaboration.

Sexual health experts hope it will help reduce the growing number of STIs, which have increased for the last decade and reached a record 482,696 last year. Two-thirds of women reporting a new STI were under 25, as were more than half of men.

The self-testing devices are aimed at technology-savvy young people. Public health experts are concerned that, although most STIs occur among that age group, many are too embarrassed to visit a GP or a genito-urinary medicine clinic to get tested and therefore continue to suffer and potentially pass the disease on. Doctors hope that the ability to obtain a private, confidential diagnosis will overcome their widespread reluctance to take a test.

The developers of the rapid testing devices expect them to be sold for as little as 50p or £1 each in vending machines in nightclubs, pharmacies and in supermarkets, as condoms are. They are drawing on nanotechnology and microfluidics, the creation of miniaturised laboratories.

“Your mobile phone can be your mobile doctor. It diagnoses whether you’ve got one of a range of STIs, such as chlamydia or gonorrhea and tells you where to go next to get treatment,” said Dr Tariq Sadiq, a senior lecturer and consultant physician in sexual health and HIV at St George’s, University of London, who is leading the project. “We need to tackle the rising epidemic of STIs, which have been going up and up and up. Britain is one of the worst [countries] in western Europe for teenage pregnancy and STIs. That there’s a major embarrassment factor here, especially among young people, makes the situation worse.” Some people do not get tested because they choose to do nothing about their symptoms, such as an itch or discharge, or dislike clinics’ waiting lists or opening times. With some STIs people can remain infectious, even when the initial symptoms have disappeared.

Self-testing could lead to quicker diagnosis, fewer STIs and patients gaining greater control of their sexual health, as well as the ability to alert recent sexual partners, he added.

Sadiq is head of the Electronic Self-testing Instruments for Sexually Transmitted Infections consortium, which includes experts in microbiology, public health, telecommunications and micro-engineering from medical research institutions, the NHS and industry. The NHS’s technology adoption centre, the National Institute of Health and Clinical Excellence and mobile phone operators, including 02, are also involved.

Doctors said the devices could help by removing the need to meet a health professional. “Some people may find going into a doctor’s surgery to be tested an intimidating experience, so it’s crucial that we find new ways to engage with people,” said Dr Marion Henderson, from the MRC’s social and public health sciences unit. Some STIs do not always display symptoms, she added. “This is important, particularly for women, as it can lead to future painful pelvic inflammatory disease and even infertility, both of which could be avoided with testing and appropriate treatment.”

Prof Noel Gill, head of HIV and STIs at the Health Protection Agency, the government agency that monitors infections and advises on containment strategies, said: “HPA surveillance has shown that the impact of STIs is greatest among young people and we hope that the application of new technology will help to reduce transmission of infection in this age group.

A total of 482,696 new cases of sexually transmitted infection were recorded across the UK in 2009, some 12,000 more than in 2008. Of those, 231,433 were in women (up 4%) and 249,605 in men (up 1%).

• Two-thirds of last year’s new STI diagnoses in women were among under-25s. For example, 88% of the 127,741 cases of chlamydia, 73% of the 5,434 cases of gonorrhoea and 66% of the 42,095 cases of genital warts among women occurred in that age group.

• Among men, slightly more than half of all the new STIs were in under-25s, including 69% of the 84,863 cases of male chlamydia, 47% of the 49,105 cases of genital warts and 41% of the 11,541 cases of gonorrhoea.

• The most common age at which women get an STI is 19-20, while for men it is 20-23.

Continue reading »]]> More than 2.5million users will leave Facebook unless certain Islamic pages are reinstated, it has been claimed.

A template letter that has been pasted into numerous Facebook pages accuses founder ‘Mark Zuckerberg’ and other senior members of Facebook of ‘ignoring the feelings of more than 2.5million Muslims’.

The Muslim community is angry that four extremely popular Islamic pages were removed from the site and the letter warns that unless its demands are met Facebook’s Muslim users will move to an Islamic alternative.

The letter demands not only that the pages are reinstated but that new rules are introduced which make it a violation of Facebook’s terms to post anti-Islamic comments.

And Facebook is given notice that unless the changes are introduced then 2.5 million Muslim users will leave to join madina.com, a social networking site for Muslims.

The letter reads: ‘Although you have attended the world’s best communication skills courses you have been most successful in growing great hatred and hostility between you and Muslims around the world, but seriously this time you have caused an almost unrepairable [sic] damage.’

It also accuses Facebook of ‘irresponsible behavior’ for allowing to host ‘Everybody Draw Mohammed Day’ pages which sparked controversy for encouraging users to draw portraits of the Prophet.

There is no specific ban on images of Allah or the Prophet Mohammed in the Koran but there is one line which is commonly taken to mean that it is impossible for human hands to recreate his likeness. To attempt to do so would is an insult to Allah, it is believed.

The letter demands that the four deleted pages are reinstated, disrespecting Islamic religious symbols is banned and any Facebook page which does so is disabled.

Madina.com was a social networking site set up specifically for the Muslim community.

It pledges to abide by the ‘highest Islamic principals’ and encourages Muslim unity. Female users are asked not to use pictures of themselves as profile pictures.

According to Facebook the Islamic pages, which included ‘I love Mohammed’ and ‘Quran Lovers’, were taken down because they were being used to ‘spam’ users, which is against the company’s policy.

A spokeswoman said: ‘The pages in question were taken down because they violated our policies about spamming users. These pages were not removed because of content violations.’

So i decided to look it further, apparently 8 other sites got seized as well.

According to allheadlinenews.com:

U.S. authorities have shut down several websites for allegedly hosting pirated copies of Hollywood movies and TV shows. News of the seizures came just a week after the Obama administration announced an enforcement plan for dealing with theft of intellectual property.

A Manhattan federal court issued warrants on behalf of the U.S. attorney for the Southern District of New York that demanded the closure of seven NINE sites: TVshack.net, Ninjavideo.net, Movies-Links.tv, FilesPump.com, Now-Movies.com, PlanetMoviez.com, ThePirateCity.org and ZML.com.

The websites are listed to computers located domestically in Colorado, Florida, Illinois and internationally in the Czech Republic, Germany, the Netherlands, and the United Kingdom.

U.S. Attorney Preet Bharara said in a statement, “Criminal copyright infringement occurs on a massive scale over the Internet, and reportedly results in billions of dollars in losses to the U.S. economy. That translates into lost jobs and real hardships for ordinary working people. That’s why we took today’s action. If your business model is movie piracy, your story will not have a happy ending.”

Visitors landing on the aforementioned web pages will now be redirected to a page that notifies them the sites have been seized by the government. However, after the seizures were announced four of the sites appeared to still be working properly.

Bharara believes seizing the websites will have a deterrent effect among people who would watch movies illegally.

Continue reading »]]> Adult domain dot xxx gets its official Approval from ICAAN? meaning you can now have domain such as “www.your-name.xxx”

Official approval has been given for the creation of a net domain dedicated to pornography.

The board of net overseer Icann gave initial approval for the creation of the .xxx domain at its conference in Brussels.

Icann’s approval will kick off a fast-track process to get the porn-only domain set up.

The decision ends a long campaign by ICM Registry, the backers of .xxx, to win approval.

Icann, the Internet Corporation for Assigned Names and Numbers, said the next step would be talks with ICM Registry to ensure that it still had sufficient backing from the adult industry to justify its creation.

Icann oversees the net’s addressing system and demands that new top level domains, such as .biz, must be “sponsored” in that they must serve the needs of a defined community.

ICM has said it has that backing and added that the creation of .xxx will make it easier for filters to block access to sexual material.

During the debate on approval, Icann board members said mistakes had been made in denying approval before now.

The denial was “not consistent with the application of neutral, objective and fair documented policy”.

Some board members said they were personally “uncomfortable” with the decision to approve .xxx but could not block it because ICM had followed Icann’s rules for setting up a new top-level domain.

Initial approval for .xxx was given in 2005 but this was rescinded following protests from politically conservative groups. Icann also said it was worried that it would be asked to police content – a role it was not created for.

In February 2010, a panel of US judges said Icann erred in denying the approval of the domain. Icann accepted that ruling and began a public consulation process on whether the domain should be approved.

Continue reading »]]> We all knew the Facebook ‘like’ button was only available on Statuses, notifications, groups and pages… Facebook’s now made it available for people to “like” comments.

I’m already sick of the fact that i get told to like things on other websites that aren’t facebook or related. Imagine being asked to like the image of a man abusing young kids; there’s a facebook “like” icon and a text telling you “Be the first of your friends to like this.” Am i being asked to like the image of kids being abused?

Things are going to get worse now that facebook’s introduced the like button on comments… However the good thing about the new facebook like button is… You get to know when someone is actually stalking you. Unlike before when you can only guess whether somebody likes a status just because you made a comment on it or because they actually do like it.

Dear Facebookers, Now you know who the stalker is, the one that likes your comment whenever you commented on somebody else’s profile. The liked your comment but not the status. Stalkers don’t have to be someone you don’t know, could be your cousin, your step-mum, your ex, neighbor, nosey friend,  or someone who’s just seeking for attention.

Continue reading »]]> Nokia said that Apple had infringed on patents relating to “enhanced speech and data transmission, using positioning data in applications and innovations in antenna configurations that improve performance and save space, allowing smaller and more compact devices”.

In a press release, Paul Melin, general manager of patent licensing for Nokia, said: “Nokia has been the leading developer of many key technologies in mobile devices. We have taken this step to protect the results of our pioneering development and to put an end to continued unlawful use of Nokia’s innovation.”

The move is the latest in a series of lawsuits between the two companies. In October last year, Nokia filed a lawsuit against Apple for patent infringement. Two months later, Apple filed a countersuit, accusing Nokia of infringing on some of its patents. Bruce Sewell, Apple’s general counsel, said: “Other companies must compete with us by inventing their own technologies, not just by stealing ours.”

Another round of lawsuits followed, from both sides, and the matter remains unresolved.

The new lawsuit comes as Apple announced plans to release the iPad outside the US for the first time. The iPad will be released in Britain on Friday, May 28 and prices start at £429 (What a Rip-Off).
