I’m going re-introduce the wonderfully talented and beautiful Soul Diva; Yetunde the 24 years old singer who has worked with various UK artists such as Loudmouth, Offkey, Yolanda Brown and comedian Eddie Kadi, and has even shared the stage with the great gospel legend, Ron Kenoly.
We’ve interviewed Yetunde on her new Album “Favourite Things”.. I’ve listened to the album myself and i must say it’s different in the best possible way, I’ve even confessed my likeness for the album to Yetunde during the Interview.
The Soulful Diva talked about how things’ changed for her “Initially I was pretty shy because before signing to Green Garden I’d come up with ideas in my room to a beat I’d have listened to for a while. Then all of a sudden I’m in the studio with new producers”
[Interview below]-
It’s great to finally interview Yetunde, How are you feeling Yetunde?
I’m feeling good and anxious at the same time. My album is out soon so it’s all pretty surreal at the moment.
Describe your current environment, cold, warm, boring?
Warm and busy.
Your single “Mr GQ”‘s just been released, how do you feel about that?
I feel happy that I can put my music out there. It was a lot of fun to record and I’m glad we went on to release it. Maybe I’ll get my very own Mr GQ because of it!
There’s something different about it, it’s got like a classical/old skool vibes to it, how would you describe it?
Yes it doeas have a laid back feel to it, I’d say it’s catchy, hazy and fun.
I must say, the album “Favourite Things” is exceptional, there’s also a track named “favourite Things” on the Album, why have you chosen this as the title?
Wow thank you, I’m glad you like the album. I felt the track “Favourite Things” was the heart of the album, content wise and pretty much resonated what I’m trying to say throughout most of the songs on my album: being sincere and down to Earth is more appealing than how much money you have or bling you own.
Actually a lot of tracks on the albums tends to have this jazzy / old skool vibe to it, or maybe’s just my hearing. Whats the concept behind the album?
I didn’t set out to have it sound Jazzy/old school. I just wanted my album to be a natural effort, not contrived or trying to be too much like someone else and luckily I got to write and co-write all the songs and it just so happened it has the old skool vibe to it which I’m proud of.
Talking of Old SKool, name 3 of your favourite old time artists?
Thats hard because I love so many but for now I’d say Billy Holliday, Otis Redding (“Dock of Bay” is too special) and Aretha Franklin.
